Hidden Treasures Montage (be sure to turn up your volume)

We hope you took the time to click the above montage! We believe you will be blessed by meeting our children.

Why this site? In the United States, there is a 90-94% rate of termination of pregnancies associated with Trisomy 21. In the UK it is said to be at 95%. These numbers reflect to us that there is misinformation about what life is really like with our darlings. As parents of children with Ds, we want to help others to know what it is REALLY like. Unfortunately, many either do not get any information, or they are given outdated information. It is our hope that families can come here to see the beauty of our children, and find support in their journey.

Why the name "Hidden Treasures"? Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta often referred to those in the world that others did not value as hidden treasures. We are concerned that the value of an individual with Trisomy 21 is being diminished. As you see from our montage, and as you read in our stories in the Our Stories section, we feel so blessed to have our children. We want to give parents who receive this diagnosis a true look, from the parent's perspective.

Who is the artist singing in the video? We have been asked OFTEN, who is singing the song on our video above? It is Greg Troyer. We are thrilled that Greg has been able to see our project. Here is what Greg had to say about Hidden Treasures... "I just want to say thank you for the honor of using my song for such an important thing. It really helps to encourage me that this music I write and labor over is not done in vain. God will continue moving in ways that He sees fit, and that is enough to keep us all going. Your video and cause are so inspiring that it makes regular day to day things seem to pale in comparison. God bless you, your family, and all of the other children and families that are affected by your ministry. Thank you again, Greg Troyer" http://www.gregtroyer.com/

We thank you, Greg, for listening to God's call, and following it. Your song has been a blessing to us!

That was a good video. I cannot personally relate, but I was emotionally moved. The video was filled with beautiful children.

Hi there! I saw your blog on the Blogger's Choice Awards. I am in there too, under Best Charity Blog. I "stylize" blogs for $20 with part of the funds going towards my mission trip this summer and part to a Charity of the Month. Having a great looking blog not only attracts readers, but this way, you can be helping TWO great causes. Check out:
www.madebynikki.blogspot.com and see the many blogs I have already stylized, as well as details on the charities.

Thanks!
Nikki

I wandered over from Megan's got 47 - I thought the video was wonderful - I am sure it will bring comfort and joy to many people who watch it and see all the beautiful children. I must confess that i never really considered T21 an impediment to my daughter receiving the sacraments. She is only three but when I had her baptised - there was nothing in particular about her T21. The priest knew that the day was important to us - maybe more so because she had nearly died after heart surgery when she was 3 months old.

What a beautiful video! Thanks for making it and sharing it with the rest of us. My husband and I have two little boys with Down syndrome. We were blessed with our oldest son, Aidan, the old-fashioned way. The baby, Colin Nathaniel (which literally means "this child is a gift from God"), was a "re-gift".

I got a little choked up when I saw the pictures of the families having their babies baptized. It's quite a beautiful thing to give these children back to God as our way of thanking Him and admitting that our children are much better off in His hands. It also brought back the memories of how I felt at the time we had our first son "dedicated". We are not catholic. Dedication is our non-denominational church's version of baptism. The fear of the unknown was overwhelming and, at the time, we were still grieving for the loss of the child we thought he would be. God knows these little ones are sorely needed in this world.

I wish more parents would see your video. Especially those whose babies are not yet born. Maybe more of them would change their minds and at least consider placing them for adoption. Everyone deserves a chance at life.

God Bless You and Thanks Again!
Martha
